'With women's football I would politely suggest that if I went to my local field and watched a boys under 12's game I would see more skill, more commitment, better general football and a more competitive match than I would if I watched a women's international match.'

My daughter plays for Essex RTC under 12s. The girls RTCs are playing in boys grass roots leagues from this season. They are played 4 won 2 drawn1 so far.

I'll be honest, and I've watched loads of women's football, it's not the same game and I don't think it ever will be but if you watch it without continually comparing it to men's football then it can be good entertainment.

Well the dopey cunts have done their dough in the transfer window

Then alienated their core support

So why not go the full Arsenal and pay the bints to squeal whilst wobbling about mis kicking a ball?

Good call by the club.
The current team will probably be gone pretty soon if they are ambitious enough to take on the better teams.

Ha ha - use to work in Ireland with a semi pro women whenever it was women v men football games (a yearly event) - she rang rings round the boys - they probably thought like you but all went home with their tale between their legs and yes you are sexist.

If Peschisolido is so committed to equality etc etc etc, why has it taken this amount of publicity to kick start.

Sure the other ladies teams had to go through so much trouble.

Re: West Ham accused of sex discrimination
West Ham United have taken over the running of the ladies' club, saying they are "delighted" to bring it into "the West Ham family".

The Hammers were last week accused of sex discrimination by Stephen Hunt, chairman of the ladies' club.

West Ham said they will now work in unison with the ladies' team to ensure key improvements are made.

Vice-chairman Karren Brady said the Premier League club are "passionately committed to equality".

She added women's football was a "high priority on our agenda".

Re: West Ham accused of sex discrimination
I think the issue here is more with the people who shout "Sexist!!" at every opportunity.

I mean, I do not care for sports played by men; Handball, Water polo, Judo, Bowls. Archery......I could go on and list loads. And I don't care for them because they are pretty much boring and I lose interest.

But nobody has a pop at me because they are men.

If I say I do not care women's football then all the feminists go "You are a sexist". But I don't care for it because it is pretty much boring and I lose interest.

The big difference however is that I appreciate the sports I mentioned with regard to the skill and ability on show. That is not in doubt. An archer who can hit the gold of a target 25 times out of 25 arrows is a person that has a great skill which has been honed over years of practice. But, it's just....well....a bit dull after a while.

With women's football I would politely suggest that if I went to my local field and watched a boys under 12's game I would see more skill, more commitment, better general football and a more competitive match than I would if I watched a women's international match.

And this is the big problem. It is nothing to do with sexism. It is purely down to the product. And watching 22 women boot a ball up and down a pitch whilst falling over a lot is not exactly a very good product.

I appreciate that with funding, coaching, time, patience and some access to the same facilities the men's have the standard may improve. But in my opinion a standard of women's football that is a product that is exciting, competitive and competes with the men's game is a million miles away.

It's not me being sexist; just stating the facts.

I do not want to be told by some feminist I should be supporting women's football because it's 'women' and football'. I will treat it the same as I treat men's sports I don't like. And if it gets to a point where it is competitive then I may watch.

But until then I will sit in my garden and watch my six year old and three year old daughters boot the ball up and down the garden and chase after it. There is just as much skill and finesse on display as a women's game anyway.

Re: West Ham accused of sex discrimination
Blimey you are talking a right load of flannel there and with a nice big leap of logic at the end

The quality is shit, bears no relationship to proper football and I dont give a flying fuck about its improvement or otherwise

Neither do I care about other clubs and what they are doing

Now I dont begrudge them playing, they can do what they like but just dont interfere with the proper game. And that is the rub, some kind of bender, running a half baked outfit in our name and kit only, suddenly besmirches the club by association. That commentator bint, fucking useless too, suddenly has an opinion worthy of national broadcast and her pearl of wisdom, birds should be managing the top teams!

Ranks alongside another football bird on the radio, telling the listeners that they SHOULD watch birds football - why? Fuck off

As I said, if they want to play fine, get on with it but wind your necks in when trying to mess with ours

Re: West Ham accused of sex discrimination
The quality is what it is, and I'm not saying it's very good at all, but that doesn't mean it can't get better. It's a growing interest elsewhere and the PR could be good.
If other teams in UK can put some effort into it, why can't we?
You can't compare it to the men, you can't do that in any sport to be fair. In that case women shouldn't be in sports whatsoever.

Re: West Ham accused of sex discrimination

People aren't criticising women's football because it is played by women. They are criticising it because the standard is shocking.

No need to watch old black & white flims of goalkeepers back in the 5O's just watch the new
female goal keepers .
